My son and his wife have some close friends who own an Elk farm in the rolling forested hills outside of White Court AB. And we were lucky enough to get a personal tour from one of the owners, Diane. Who, at the fierce age of 70 something, along with her husband Chuck, are still doing all the things to run this gorgeous oasis.
A little diddy, ‘bout Chuck and Diane. Few glasses of wine in I would have sang the entire song. Lucky you its 9am, and I do have some restraint.
That’s right, Chuck and Diane, melodically similar to Jack and Diane, and I’m sure no one has ever serenaded them with John Cougar Mellencamp before - (sheepish grin)
Now, I don’t think Chuck was a football star, and I’m not sure about Dianes debutante status, but these two maintain quite the farming operation. It was breathtaking seeing such large and majestic animals up close. I think to myself, I’m barely keeping up with the dog shit in the back yard, it’s hard for me to wrap my head around the daily responsibilities involved in raising and caring for a herd of Elk.
Because I like to share, here are a couple of pictures from our little elk farm adventure. The landscaping out there is absolutely breathtaking. I bet it’s even more incredible in the summer months, when all the leaves are on the trees and the surrounding hills are carpeted in green. Could you imagine this view under a full moon?
If you are in the market for a farm or maybe even an Elk farm, this one is for sale. With or without the elk, but ready for any kind of livestock if thats your thing.
Thanks for being here
Till next time
