Merry Christmas, my friends.
I hope this note finds you well. This time of year can be a shit show. Rushing around, teetering on financial ruins, social expectations, family drama..
Maybe none of these things are an issue for you, and if that’s the case, you have reached a level in this game most of us will never achieve.
There was a certain amount of give-a-shits I was able to let go of this year.
No preconceived notions of what the house should look like or what the meals would entail. My micro-managed wasn't so micro or managed.
Planned our Christmas Eve the morning of.
Perfect.
Not sure if this state of zen is temporary? Perhaps some miraculous spiritual evolution I've managed to harness through this ripening process. I will keep you posted on any new developments or regressions for next year.
It’s Christmas morning, and the house is quiet. Our living room is dimly lit by the warm glow of Christmas tree lights and the fireplace.
Our tree isn’t perfect, and our home is cold and drafty. Our furniture is ravaged by dogs.
It’s cookies and coffee for pre-breakfast. And for our too-late breakfast, but not quite lunchtime meal- There's cheese, ham, back bacon, and eggs on an English muffin.
Mimosas, backyard fires, more food, games and, of course, family.
At the end of it all, our home was full of all the good things, the best being the ones we love. This is where we gather. This is all that matters.
With a throbbing liver, full heart, and even fuller belly.
Gratefully yours,
Xo Tam
